A design solution that returns a wreck to something of value. Left to ruins for many years, the old bakery was restored and with the two-storey addition forms a new home for a family with teenage sons.
A very narrow lot with two boundary walls and long street setback the entire addition sits behind the bakery preserving the buildings street presence and value for the East Fremantle community.
Following the renovation and addition the building was placed on the Town of East Fremantle’s Municipal list of heritage places.
Award – Fremantle Heritage Award for the harmonious adaption of a heritage place to a new use 2004
